The twentieth On Miracle Ground conference will be held in Chicago, Illinois. Lawrence Durrell came to Chicago in 1970 accompanied by Fiddle Viracola for interviews and book signings. Fiddle showed Larry the city from the elegant North Shore to blues joints on Rush Street, prompting his identification of the city as “a woman in a steel bra.”
The central location and international airports are easy and convenient for all domestic and international travelers. With almost three million inhabitants, dozens of cultural institutions, seven thousand restaurants and twenty-six miles of lakefront, Chicago provides an attractive destination.
