Eliot)\u201d (1948)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The International Lawrence Durrell Society invites proposals for papers exploring the broad theme of \u201cIndebtedness &amp; Influence\u201d in literature and culture since 1900.<\/p>\n<p>Possible starting points for this topic include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Literary Borrowing (Explicit, Illicit, Covert, or Otherwise)<\/li>\n<li>Attribution &amp; Allusion<\/li>\n<li>Parody &amp; Pastiche<\/li>\n<li>Imitation, Forgery, Historicism, &amp; Homage<\/li>\n<li>Tradition &amp; the Individual Talent<\/li>\n<li>Influence &amp; Anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Quotation, Epigraphs &amp; Intertextuality<\/li>\n<li>Collaboration, Correspondence &amp; Exchange<\/li>\n<li>Archives &amp; Archaeology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ILDS welcomes proposals for papers treating the role of Indebtedness &amp; Influence in the works and lives of any twentieth- or twenty-first century author of interest.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals exploring the significance of Indebtedness &amp; Influence within Lawrence Durrell\u2019s published works are especially encouraged.<\/p>\n<p><b>Deadline for submission of proposal is 2 September 2016.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Please submit proposal by email to <a href=\"mailto:charles.sligh@virginia.edu\">charles.sligh@virginia.edu<\/a>. Include two attachments in pdf, rtf or doc format:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first attachment should consist of a 300-word abstract (double-spaced and titled), omitting all references to the submitter.<\/li>\n<li>The second attachment should contain a cover page that includes the following information:\n<ul>\n<li>Name (as it will appear in the program)<\/li>\n<li>Address (preferably home address)<\/li>\n<li>E-mail address (necessary to confirm your acceptance)<\/li>\n<li>Academic affiliation (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Title of paper\/work (as it will appear in the program)<\/li>\n<li>National origin\/genre of work(s) discussed (please be specific)<\/li>\n<li>Personal biographical note (100-150 words)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/thelouisvilleconference.com\/\">45th annual Louisville Conference on Literature &amp; Culture since 1900<\/a> will be held at the University of Louisville, 23-25 February, 2017.
